prevent frost damage

ELAINE Hickey asked 14 years ago

Last Autumn I planted a few climbers e.g clematis etc they all died in the frost. I’ve just bought some acidic plants in Lidl today e.g rhododendren. WORRIED ABOUT LOSING THEM TOO THIS WINTER HOW CAN iPREVENT DAMAGE with the bad weather will i cut them back later on and cover them in dung from the farm yard?

Last winter was exceptionally cold and it is unlikely to happen again. Choose hardy forms of anything you plant, including clematis and rhododendron. Do not apply farmyard manure to shrubs of any kind.
