How successful would the Weed wand be on grass seedlings in a gravel driveway ? i know that damaged grass grows again from the roots, so would burning the surface prevent regrowth ?

A flame weeder only damages the top of weeds. Some kinds, and small weeds, will die because they have no reserves in the roots, but some will resprout. It needs to be used regularly to control re-growth.
On gravel, the flame weeder is used as an organic alternative to path weedkillers but whether its organic credentials are all that valid is arguable … it uses fossil fuel, produces CO2 etc.
