I enclose photo of acer griseum which is non thriving but is in leaf. its about 3years old. i have 2 others and they are doing well. I planted a cotoneaster beside it in autumn as i was going to dispose of the acer but forgot to.

The acer is a much more attractive plant and longer lasting than the cotoneaster. There is too much competition around the acer. It needs space to grow and some feeding with tree and shrub fertiizer.. Acer can be slow to settle and take off.
