hello GerryMy grandchildren are hugely interested in helping me in the garden they are aged six years and eight years like all children they expect instant results i have a polytunnell so seeds aregreat in that respect they are both boys they want an apple tree that will have apples they can eat in the summer i have plenty of space is this possible to have fruit in a short time we grow strawberries peppers and a grapevine all very successfullyKind Regards mary omara

If you buy a ‘Discovery’ apple or other variety, well grown, with flower buds in place now, you will get fruit this summer. Flower buds are fat rounded buds, usually on short stems. Any good garden centre should be able to point these out to you.
