What are the chances if I plant a store bought fruit’s pip that I will get a fruit that tastes more or less like it? Also how do I go about it? Should I stratify the seed or plant it in fall/winter or will it grow without a dormant period?

While it is possible to grow an apricot from a pip, it is normally grafted and seed-raised trees can take many years to crop.
If you want, sow the seed from a fully ripe fruit in autumn and stand the pot outdoors, bringing it into some warmth in spring. Grow it in the pot for one year and plant it out against a wall for extra warmth.
Apricots need a warm summer to ripen fruit.Â
