Does my Bamboo “phyllostachys” which was planted in September, some in pots and others in raised beds, need to be protected from snow and ice?

Phyllostachys bamboo is hardy and will not suffer, but cold winds might dessiccate leaves that have not yet adapted to the new position and some form of windbreak might be set up if the plants are exposed to strong winds.
