i am finding plenty of 2/3 inch (possibly black millipedes) on my garden walls . very thin and they curl up and are hard to kill.are they pests or do they do good in a garden?

Millipedes are black with lots of legs tucked under, and slow-moving. Centipedes are fast-moving predators, brown and with longer legs. Centipedes are harmless. Millipedes are largely harmless too but sometimes might eat pea seeds below soil and strawberry fruit.
Both mainly to be ignored and left to themselves.
