Wait until the briars show no signs of re-growth, although it is unlikely that they will penetrate the Mypex in any case, but they might find some gaps at planting holes.

If you are planting winter heathers, be sure to include some other plants … small conifers, phormiums, some ornamental grasses etc because heathers do not look well  on their own when out of flower.
