Could you recommend approx half a dozen container plants to be used on a large deck area in a sunny aspect. They can be medium to large with some color.

Phormium woul dbe good, also astelia and yucca or agave, but cut the points on the leaves. These are all spiky and wind resistant.

Hebe, hypericum and escallonia are good. Juniper and cedar are possibilities, almost as large bonsai, cramped by the pot.

If it is more sheltered, pieris, camellia and lauristinus look well. Ivy trialing out of containers look well.

Use ivy-leaved pelargoniums, African daisies and marguerites for summer colour.
