I have found what is referred to as “cuckoo spit” on many of my garden plants. Is this damaging my plants and how do I deal with it?

Cuckoo spit is produced by nymphs of froghopper to protect them from the elements and from predators. One froghopper in each ball of bubbles.
After a few weeks they grow up and clear off. The level of damage is very slight. The spits can be washed away but the insects will soon leave anyway.
