For general lawn use, choose a No 2 grass seed. This contains a mixture of moderately vigorous grass species, including dwarf perennial rye grass.

For a fine lawn, choose a No 1 or Fine lawn mixtrure which has more of the fine-leaved grasses such as fescue and bent grass. A fine lawn requires more upkeep and a No 2 is suitable for the vast majority of lawns.
