I am wondering how to propogate an old wild rose bush and when is the right time to do so. They are very common and seem to be very vigorous. I have seen them in a variety of pink shades, a small rose, on very thorny branches.

Most roses root easily from cuttings taken around flowering time. Take a shoot about 30 long that has flowers or is in flower. Cut the flower away and remove leaves from bottom half. Trim with asharp blade 5mm below a bud and dip in rooting powder.
Insert five or six cuttings in a pot of 2 peat/ 1 sand mix and cover with white polythene. Keep in acool place until new growth is made and roots come out the bottom of pot.
