We have our escalonia hedge planted for the last 7-8 years and it seemed to be flurishing. In the last 6 months (approx) it seems to have developed some problems. It has got very sparse in places and does not look healthy at all. What do you think could be the problem? It acts as a boundary and would be very unpractical for us to uproot!!! We have drained our garden but it does seem to hold water. However this has not affected the hedge up to now.
Sometimes diseases have a very favourable spell of weather and afterwards, they do not present the same problem again, but often the problem becomes chronic, and in this case, the shrub may have to be removed.
