I planted my garlic in March of this year, and the plants are nearly 2 ft tall, with the leaves beginning to turn yellow. When should these be ready for harvesting? Most people seem to have planted last August/September, and am wondering did I plant my garlic too late?

Garlic can be planted in autumn or early spring. If it flowers, cut off the flower head when still small.
The crop is ready to lift when more than half the foliage has yellowed. Before this, it can be used as green garlic with excellent flavour, retaining most of the crop until later for storage. Try to lift it in July or August. If it goes too late the bulbs can be mouldy.
