I am digging up the grass around my apple trees to make it easier when cutting the grass and can see little roots-am I going to damage the trees by doing this?
It is very beneficial to apple trees to get rid of grass around their base, even to the spread of the branches, but by physically cutting out the grass, you may damage the apple tree roots.
Either cover with black plastic to kill the grass or use Roundup.Â
