greenfly on copper beech

Fintan Hession asked 16 years ago

I have a copper beech hedge planted nearly 2 years doing quite well, in the last 2-3 weeks have noticed large amounts of greenfly on underside of leaves, will they cause damage? What should i use to treat? Is it common?

Greenflies are quite common on beech and can cause reduction in growth and some distortion of leaves, but predators and parasites usually arrive and counteract the greenflies.

If the damage is severe and prolonged, you could use an insecticide to control it.
