Should I trim heathers after flowering?Should I cut aqueligias right down after flowering? Can you suggest a clematis for dappled shade, alkaline windy soil? Montana already grows well.

Heathers can be trimmed after flowering, removing the tips that have flowered, to keep them neat and prevent them growing too big, but it is not essential.
Aquilegias can be cut back after flowering. Clematis ‘Nellie Moser’ likes some shade as the flowers tend to burn in too much sunlight.
