Honeydew from sycamore aphids

Crocarb asked 16 years ago

My neighbour’s large sycamore tree reaches over into my garden, where I am growing various vegetables for consumption. It is infested with Sycamore aphids, and my plants are being covered with the sticky honeydew. It is not the end of the world, I suppose, but is there anything that can be done to lessen the problem?

The branches reaching over your property can be cut off at the point where they cross the boundary. But the branches cut off still belong to your neighbour.

It is not possible to treat a big tree for aphids. Perhaps horticultural fleece might give some relief as a temporary measure.
