i want to plant around my septic tank to add a bit of life to it. i want evergreen shrubs and some that will flower also. i dont want them to grow to high maybe around two foot. what should i put in.

If you have an acidic soil you can plant some rhododendrons and pieris. If not hydrangeas, potentillas, cistus, genista, hypericum and fuchsia. These are all easily grown and can be pruned if needs be.
There is no problem planting by a septic tank but trees should not be planted over the associated soak-away area.Â
