Hi Gerry, Is it possible to harvest unripe kiwi fruit (i.e. will they ripen off the tree)? Best harvest ever but fruit still very hard. Kind regards, Olivia

Kiwi fruit often runs out of summer in Ireland and remain hard at the end of the growing season. Leave them on the vine as long as possible into October.
Even though hard, the fruits usually ripen, and indeed are usually shipped hard and unripe. Placing the kiwifruit in a bag with a ripe banana or apple can help to induce ripening.Â
In some cases, the fruit is too immature to ripen and it shrivels instead, but it is well worth a try.Â
