we drained an area along laurel hedge with shores last year as was water logged but its showing no signs of recovery yet…do you know how long it should take to green up and start new growth again? Its about 4 years old.

It will take a couple of years, providing the drainage is adequate. Laurel is very sensitive to water-logging and part of the root system has probably died and has to re-grow.
