I am currently researching the invasiveness of the ornamental plant Leycesteria formosa (Himalayan Honeysuckle) in west Cork. I would be interested to know if it can be easily propagated from seed or cuttings? Does layering also produce new roots?

Leycesteria is commonly known as ‘pheasant berry’ as it was planted for cover for game birds. The berries are eaten by birds and widely distributed and leycesteria appears in gardens and waste ground, bird-sown.
It is easily propagated from seeds. The stems are hollow and not good for cuttings and the stems are too upright for layering. But seed is so easy that there is no reason for using other methods.
