My Lithodora hangs over a retaining wall and is a joy in June and July. But it has become rather dry and “woody” underneath. Should I cut it right back? And if so, when? Thank you .

Lithodora has a tendency to become straggly as many alpine shrubby plants do. It is best to trim a little each year after flowering to keep it neat. Cutting back into older stems can be done, again after and leaving plenty of greenery to ‘draw’ the new growth, but there is always some risk in this.Â
