I have a Magnolia Tree, which is approximately 9 years old. Unfortunately my garden is quite small and the tree has outgrown its space. We have a green area across from our house, where i am hoping to move it to and i just wonder will it be possible to move it successfully without damaging it. Would you have some tips on moving it?
The first semi-circle can be dug now and the other side can be dug in autumn next year and the tree moved the following spring 2011. Before lifting the tree needs to be undercut from the trench.
The hole should be dug out before the tree is moved, lifting it on a tarpaulin or similar. You might need a few people to lift it. The tree might need two stakes and tied across to hold it steady.
After moving, the tree should be watched for water shortage and well mulched.Â
