I’d like to plant bulbs amongst the lawnHowever, come the time to mow the lawn, can I mow over the spent flowers?

If you mow over daffodils before the leaves have turned yellow, you will reduce their flowering. So the areas of clumps of daffodils need to be left alone to wither, usually until early June.
Group the daffodils in a few clumps or swathes near the boundaries of the lawn, so that these areas can be left to grow. If there are single daffodils dotted all over the place, this is not possible.
