Hi i think our dwarf plum tree might be diseased..we haven’t had any leaves so far this year and the buds all look like there is a swelling just beneath – last week I noticed a kind of sap oozing out of them but this appears to be dried up now but the buds don’t seem to be developing at all.. Any ideas? Thanks in advance

A plum tree should have broken bud and produced flowers by May. The oozing would signal that a disease has affected the tree. This could be bacterial canker disease or brown rot, whichever it is, the tree sounds dead.
Leave it for a while if you like before taking it out. Planting another plum in the same place might be alright but there is some danger of re-infection.
