I would like to grow plants/shrubs in tubs (sitting on sandstone pebbles) against a north facing wall. Can you recommend?

If it is possible to make a bed, even if concrete must be removed, it is better to do so as tubs need regular watering and that takes time.
If there is no other way, then the tubs should be as large as possible.
Plants that would be suited include camellia, rhododendron, (acid compost),hydrangea, sarcocca, fatsia, ivy, aucuba, Japanese maple, Geranium macrorhizum and epimedium.
There are other plants to choose from in our Plant finder in the Know-how section.
