Planting trees

Eleanor Foley asked 10 years ago

Please can you advise what trees I can plant in a very exposed coastal site in South Wexford . I need these trees for some privacy. The must be able to survive in high winds and will be about 20 to 30 feet from the house. I have attached photo of what I envisage

At 20 to 30 feet from the house, your best bet would be Olearia macrodonta, which is a broadleaf evergreen, a bit like holly. Or griselina, allowed to grow to full size. These can make about six metres.

Both of these can withstand, or recover from, salt damage.
