When do I cut back autumn fruiting rasberry canes?

Normally these are cut back hard in late winter or early spring as they fruit in autumn on shoots made the same year.
If you cut away shoots that have finished flowering in autumn, the plant will be encouraged to produce late flowers and fruit.
