My Escallonia hedge is dead! I thought I might replace it with rose hedging. Would this be truly hardy should we experience another winter like the last one? If so, which roses would be suitable?
Rose hedging means Rosa rugosa, which is very hardy, but makes a slightly informal hedge, broad and does not clip precisely. But it has flowers and berries, and can be lightly trimmed to make it neat.
