when sowing seed of monkshood do i sow them in pots or in the open ground? if in pots do i keep the pot indoors during winter

You can do either with monkshood, but better results are likley in pots. If the plants make enough growth by autumn, they can be planted out, and the pots are better in a greenhouse in winter, though not essential.
