Strawberries crop once in early summer in a tunnel and the fruited plants are usually disposed off after cropping. If the plants are kept, they are tidied up and stood outside the tunnel in pots or grow bags and allowed winter cold before being put back in for forcing in January.
Commerically, strawberries can be planted through polythene but this is not necessary on a domestic scale. Strawberries are best not fed with manure, but can be given some liquid feeding in pots in early spring to boost early growth.
