We have a problem with trees browning and shedding lots of needles. We have Cypress (i think thats the name) trees on 3 sides of our house, they are probably 25-35ft high and are a great barrier against the weather. I am not sure when they were planted, we moved in 8 years ago and they were well established then. We haven’t ever really watered them, the rain seemed to be adequate, but maybe because this year has been so dry and with the hard winter they seem to be suffering? Can you help with some advice?
They can also suffer root damage due to winter flooding whihc does not always become apparent until summer.
Trees planted more than a few months do not need watering.
There is nothing to be done but wait and see if they recover. If they get too shabby, remove them and re-plant with common laurel.
