I have a large rural garden surrounded by fairly flat fields, so the prevailing wind is stronger than usual. i want to block this wind as much as possible using trees and shrubs. any suggestions?

On well-drained land, plant hazel, holly, birch, hornbeam and hawthorn and if there is space, perhaps some oak.
On wet ground, plant alder or willow.
Plant these are a shelter belt of about 10 metres or more wide and not in lines.
