vine weevil resistant shrub

Imelda Duffy asked 14 years ago

Can you please suggest some plants to grow on a north facing house wall. I currently have euonymus but they has been decimated by vine weevil and mildew. They are in areas seperated from the main garden by a driveway.I also have a hyderangea doing quite well despite the weevil in the area. It is a clay soil, exposed site and only gets very early morning sun.

Vine weevil is fond of eunoymus and almost anything else is better. Vine weevil is notmally only a problem in an area with a lot of peat in the soil. Try aucuba, laurtinus, ruscus, sarcococca and box, which are shrubs and hellebores, epidmedium, hosta and hardy geranium.
