Hi Gerry, at the moment I am preping bed for dahlia bulbs.I have weeds with very long roots and runners. Can you recomment a weed killer that I can use AND will still be safe to plant dahlia bulbs in mid March ? Thanks .

March is too early to plant out dahlias … start them off in pots in a greenhouse, porch or bright window.
In the meantime, apply Roundup to the weeds in the flower bed and allow time for this to work. Be careful to spray all the weeds thorougly.
Plant out the dahlia plants at the end of May, by which time you should have good control of weeds.
