Could you please help me to identify this weed which keeps coming up in my lawn and flowerbeds. It is in at least 20 places at the moment. I mow the lawn and it comes up again. How can it be eradicated?

These are suckers from a plum tree or similar, such as a flowering plum or cherry.
They need to be cut off below the ground when ever they are seen and the soil firmed back.
There is no chemical as it would damge the tree from which they arise.
