When to buy and plant madonna lilies

I’ve been trying to buy madonna lily bulbs for over two years. Every garden centre says something different. If I ask in spring they say they come in in the autumn. If I ask in autumn they say they’ll have them next spring. – When should I expect to be able to buy them, and when should they be planted?

Madonna lilies are unusual in that they grow green leaves over winter and so are best planted in autumn. Mr Middleton has them for sale currently.
