My garden is very bare and wind-prone also my clay seems heavy. What can i do? any ideas would be great thanks up in windy donegal.

You need to get some shelter established, or even consider some artificial shelter for the early years.
The choice depends on the space available and the soil.
Best plan is to go around the area and see if anybody has got good shelter going and use the same.
